To All Members,
Following a fantastic day on Saturday I would like to express my sincere thanks to all members for their support, kind words, cards and presents [which Clair and I will drink slowly over the coming months]
Being Captain of a club that I have been a member of for over 40 years is, without doubt, the most proud moment of my golfing career. This culminated in the best day ever.
I congratulate all those who played [nearly 200 competitors] and especially those who were successful. In particular the best gross of 69 scored by both Gaz Hughes and Lee Hinks-Edwards is always something I have held close to my heart, so congratulations to both. Specifically, it was great to present the Captains Prize to my Vice Captain, Dave Kennedy, who had a great score. Congratulations to him and I hope it is an omen for a great year in 2016.
There are so many people to thank for their support on the day, and throughout the year, that I won't try here. However, it would be wrong of me not to mention the condition of the course on Saturday, and for the last few months. It is probably as good at present, as it has been since the 18 hole course was introduced. The majority of credit for that goes to the green staff, Andy, Arthur, Lee and Ben for their commitment, professionalism and dedication to the HGC cause, supported by our excellent Greens Chairman, Bryn Jones. Expectations are now high guys, but I know you are up for the challenge, keep it up.
My year is flying by but, with your continued support, I know we can go from strength to strength.
